"Renae Plant was born on March 13, 1971, in Eumundi, a small, rural town in Queensland, Australia. Her mum, proclaimed, “There’s no way I’m going to lie on my back and push against gravity for hours--that doesn’t make any bloody sense to me.” Her mum gave birth to Renae on all fours in a mere 20 minutes (yes, you can hate her.)

Eighteen months later, Renae’s brother was born their sister followed 10 years after that and was jokingly nicknamed “The Afterthought.” Their father often rescued sick or injured wildlife and nursed them back to health at home. Occasionally, in an attempt to educate his offspring, he’d hold up an extremely venomous snake saying, “Kids, if you ever see this snake, don’t go near it. It’ll kill ya!”

Helping to care for her siblings and all of the other wild creatures in her home, Renae discovered her maternal instincts. Though she treasured her time cuddling koalas, caring for kangaroos and playing with possums, she always knew she wanted to go out into the world and explore.

Before she could do so, Renae was diagnosed with cervical cancer and at the age of 18, underwent laser surgery to remove the cancerous cells. Undaunted by this life-threatening challenge, Renae worked hard to follow her passion for creative expression.

In 1994, Renae moved to New York City to pursue a modeling and acting career, but found that living on a diet of carrots and coffee just wasn’t cutting it. It was during this time she developed her own sense of style and nurtured her knack of turning junk into artistic creations. In the urban jungle, Renae often rescued discarded items left out on the city sidewalks, recycled and transformed them into treasures. She turned an old TV set into a fish tank, bird cages into lamps, doors into tables and windows into mirrors. Her one-of-a-kind, handmade pillows were sold at the prestigious ABC Carpet and Home, the largest single retailer of floor coverings and home furnishings in the world.

In 2000, Renae planted herself in Los Angeles and in 2002 with the help of her best friend opened her own talent management company, Nebula Management: “the birthplace of hot new stars” (www.nebulamanagement.com.). Working with both new and experienced talent, Renae used her years of first-hand experience to help her clients navigate the difficult path to showbiz success.

With her biological clock ticking and Mr. Right nowhere in sight, Renae decided to donate her eggs to help infertile couples. During one of the egg retrievals, a doctor commented on her cancer surgery, “Your uterus looks like it has been run over by a truck. You’ll be lucky to have kids of your own!” The doctor’s prognosis was insignificant compared to how she felt when reading a card sent from the couple after their twins were born. The father wrote: “I never thought I’d see the day when my wife would become a mother.”

After a few false starts, Renae finally met the man of her dreams in Amsterdam. In 2003 he moved from his native Spain to be with her and when he did, sparks flew. After their wedding in Cuba, the couple quickly proved the egg-retrieval doctor wrong when they returned home pregnant.

Renae was incredibly excited about her [bump], but like most moms-to-be, she was concerned that most people just thought she was letting herself go. She wanted to scream, “I’m not fat--[bump] on board!”

Disappointed to find that nothing catered to the first four to five months of pregnancy before the [bump] finally “pops,” Renae decided to create and wear her own maternity designs on her growing belly that reflected her sense of style and humor. That’s when [bump] was born!

Renae’s [bump] designs quickly garnered such an amazing response from friends and strangers alike that she realized she was onto something good. Pregnant again within a year of her first child’s birth, Renae refined and expanded her [bump] line and for the next several months, the world at large became her focus group. Since then she has had her [bump] tees worn by celebrities like Jenna Elfman, Matt Damon’s wife Luciana Barroso, Gillian Anderson, Brooke Burke, Jennifer Meyer, Sarah Wayne Callies, Nancy O’Dell, Poppy Montgomery, Jaime Lynne Spears, Jason Preistly & Ali Landry.

If you build it, they will come... right? I wish it was that simple! In order for people to find your store, you will have to market it. Word of Mouth Tell people about your store! Talk it up, make it sound absolutely irresistible... the great products, the easy ordering, etc. Make sure you tell them both your business name AND your domain. For instance: "....my store, ABC Baby Stuff - it's www.abcbabystuff.com..."

Even if you talk to someone who isn't interested in your kind of products, they may be impressed enough to pass it along to someone who is!

A great place to start is with your friends and family - they are sure to tell people about your incredibly awesome store!

Banner Advertising

Paid banner advertising can be a great tool for marketing online. Be sure to check out the site first and make sure the traffic they claim is the traffic they get! Two good places to do that: http://www.alexa.com/ http://www.compete.com/ I've found the following sites give good return on your advertising investment. It is generally a good idea to plan to advertise for about 6 months continuously before you see big results from your ads.

Print It Everywhere

Your logo, business name, and domain name are very important when branding your business. Add them to your packaging (think stickers, tags, etc), your business cards, forum signatures and all email correspondence. A nice touch can be to send a small "thank-you" gift that also works in your domain name, business name and/or logo. Newsletters/Mailing Lists Newsletters, aka Mailing Lists, are an amazingly effective tool in marketing to your existing customer base. If you don't have a mailing list with a sign up form, start one today.

Discounts and giveaways are a great way to encourage new sign ups.

Link Exchanges

Reciprocal link exchanges are a great way to advertise and promote your business. The WAHMShoppes Link Directory allows you to set up a fully dynamic exchange, wherein anyone who adds their banner to your site must first add your banner to their site. Your store keeps track of this for you! Your best bet starting out is to visit other WAHMShoppes stores that would provide relevant links with yours. By relevant, I mean that if you sell baby stuff, then linking up with a store that sells candles is not all that relevant. It won't hurt to link with that store, but it probably won't help either. Click here for a tutorial for setting up your WAHMShoppes link exchange. If you don't have a WAHMShoppes store, you can still have a link exchange. Just set up a page on your site to add banners to, and start searching for other stores to link with. Handle the link and banner exchange by email, and be professional and business-like when you contact them.

Top List Sites

Top Lists, Top Sites, Top 100... they are all the same thing, but not all created equal! These can be a great tool for getting lots of traffic to your site, as long as your are selective in the ones you join.

The objective is not to add your site to as many Top Lists as you can. Choose carefully, and add your site to the Top Lists that are attractive and well laid-out. Busy Top Lists with flashing graphics, messy banners in disarray, tons of missing links and missing banners are not going to convey an upscale image to your site.

When you join a Top List, you submit your banner, business name and a description of your site. In exchange, you put their banner on your website. The banner you place on your site is coded so that when someone clicks it, the user is forwarded to the top site and you get credit for a "hit in". When someone visits the Top List and clicks your banner to visit your site, you get credit for a "hit out". The more hits in and out, the higher your banner will appear on the list.

The "hits in" carry the most weight for ranking purposes, so the more prominently you display the banner for the Top List, the more clicks it will get, so the more credit you will get, and the higher your banner will appear on the Top List, thus resulting in more exposure for you and more clicks to your banner.

The best part is that joining a Top List is free! Many have additional advertising spots as well, and these can be a great value as they are usually inexpensive and appear above the free ads.

Track Your Stats

A stat counter, or hit tracker, traffic meter, etc will allow you to keep track of the traffic your are getting, and where it comes from so you know which of your advertising is paying off. Try http://www.statcounter.com/... if you need help configuring it and adding it to your store, click here.

Know Your SEO

I'll keep it simple and short here, because SEO is an extremely complex subject. The most important things you can do to improve your ranking are to update your Meta Title and your home page text. Meta Keywords are so close to being obsolete that you may as well say they are obsolete. Please don't obsess over them; they are not affecting your ranking. Have 2 or 200, it makes so difference. The Meta Description affects what shows on a search engine below your Title. It has little impact on ranking but can have a big impact on if your link gets clicked, so use it to name your best brands, most impressive products, etc and make your store sound irresistible. OK now, the Meta Title. This needs to about 12-14 words, include your business name, and the MOST IMPORTANT keywords for your site. Put the most important keyword first, right after the business name. This is not a site description... it's a keyword fest. For instance... Jack's Kid Stuff - Offering Tons of Great Kids Clothing at Great Prices - WRONG!!!! Jack's Kid Stuff Boutique Clothing Little Mass Le Top Psketti Deux Par Deux - RIGHT!!!! There is no "perfect" Meta Title. The "RIGHT" example above could be done many different ways. The trick is to think about the keywords people are most likely to type in Google if they are looking for your site. Then use those in your title. Your home page text is the most important text on your website and hugely impacts your SE ranking. Make sure you have as many keyword-rich paragraphs of text as you can possibly come up with. Simply listing keywords is not powerful here; incorporate them into a body of actual sentences - the SE's are very intelligent and they penalize you for what they consider "keyword spamming". So amp up your text, but do it the right way! Research your competition, the ones appearing in the top 10-20 of the rankings, and check out what they are doing. Also, keep in mind that time plays a big role in ranking. The longer your site is around, the more credence it's given and the more your ranking will improve.

Keep It Up!

Running a successful business requires management and upkeep. Placing web banners for one month will not mean you get traffic thereafter. You need to make a constant effort to have your name out there. Small businesses have exploded in recent years, so there's more competition than ever. However, this means the industry as a whole has gained recognition and status, and that people are looking for these businesses and want to support them. Nothing happens overnight in the world of eStore marketing. Expect it to take some time as customers and SE's wait to see if you're here to stay. Their trust will build over time and so will your business!

Three Pieces of Breastfeeding Advice to Ignore

I came across this article posted on Twitter by Melodie (bfmom)and wanted to share it. It was written by Carrie Lauth, “retired” La Leche League leader and host of Natural Moms Talk Radio. While I don't necessarily agree with everything in this article, I do feel like information is a valuable thing that we all need and deserve to make informed choices throughout our lives. Plus, being a mom is the most important job anyone can have and that is why we have the option to decide if we are going to breastfeed or bottle feed and how long.

I actually breastfed my first daughter for the first 6 weeks because at that time, I did not work in an environment conducive to pumping, therefore did not continue after going back to work. I tried very hard to breastfeed my second daughter, but after getting extremely engorged causing me pain and my daughter not to be able to latch on properly, I unfortunately had to stop after just 2 weeks. We also found out that she was allergic to cow's milk meaning that if I ate any dairy products it caused her a lot of pain in her tummy; she also had acid reflux and colic to top it all off. Her pediatrician put her on Nutramigen formula and that worked great for her.

Three Pieces of Breastfeeding Advice to Ignore

Don’t nurse your baby all the time or she’ll become too dependent. You must wait and feed your baby every few hours.”

This is possibly the most damaging piece of breastfeeding advice you’ll ever hear. Not only can following this advice lead to clogged milk ducts and breast infection, it can sabotage your entire breastfeeding relationship.

In short, don’t do it.

"Don’t breastfeed your baby like a bottle-feeder. Scheduled feedings apply to formula fed babies, not nurslings. Unlike formula, breastmilk is quickly digested and since babies have small stomachs, expect your little one to “cluster feed” through most of the day—and night—in the early weeks. It’s normal for newborns to appear hungry every hour or so for part of the day.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, newborns should be nursed whenever they exhibit hunger cues: rooting, putting hands to mouth, mouthing, fussing, or crying, which is actually a late sign of hunger. Listen to them.

Unlike formula, breastmilk works on the law of supply-and-demand. The more baby nurses, the more milk you’ll make and vice versa. Babies on scheduled feedings may not nurse enough to build up an adequate milk supply.

And as for the line about babies becoming dependent? Babies are supposed to be dependent on you. After all, there isn’t much a baby can do for himself. So throw those schedules in the diaper pail.

“Whatever you do, don’t let baby sleep in your bed.”

While co-sleeping may not be the answer for all families, it can make nighttime breastfeeding (and sleeping) less of an ordeal for parents and babies. Most families throughout the world sleep next to their babies. The US is one of a few countries where this act is considered taboo. But why?

According to the Mother-Baby Behavioral Sleep Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame, babies and mothers who co-sleep receive more sleep than those who sleep separately.

But what about long-term negative effects of co-sleeping? Research shows there aren’t any. While some parents seem to have an irrational fear of “over-lying”, this simply isn’t an issue unless a parent is under the influence of mind altering substances - in which case, they shouldn’t be caring for a baby anyway.

Actually, babies who co-sleep tend to have something in common—they’re thriving—both physically, mentally and intellectually. And they’re nursing well. Babies who co-sleep tend to eat more at night, maintaining mom’s milk supply and promoting natural child-spacing.

Co-sleeping makes nighttime nursing much easier and is safe, provided you take some safety precautions and are nonsmokers. If baby wakes during the night, all you have to do is roll on your side and let the nursing begin. Then you can continue getting your snooze on while baby nurses back to sleep.

Ignore those people who say you might roll on your baby (highly unlikely if you’re sober) or are being a sap. People talk like sleeping next to your baby is a slippery slope—do it once and you’ll never have a child-free bed until the teenage years roll around. But this isn’t necessarily true. As with everything, do what works in your family’s situation.

“Babies shouldn’t breastfeed beyond [six months, one year, etc]. Mothers who nurse their toddlers are doing it more for themselves than for their babies.”

There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding toddlers. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) claim there’s no evidence of psychological or developmental harm in babies who breastfeed beyond age one.

In addition, extended nursing has many benefits. Research shows that babies over a year old still receive substantial amounts of nutrients from breastmilk. Even though toddlers need nutrition from solid foods, breastmilk is still a valuable part of their diet, providing high amounts of vitamin B12, vitamin A, folate, vitamin C and protein. The composition of milk even changes to fit baby’s growing needs.

Even though the sight of nursing toddlers isn’t at the forefront of society, extended breastfeeding isn’t extreme. The AAP recommends breastfeeding for at least a year and longer as mutually desired by mama and child and the World Health Organization urges moms to nurse for at least two years.

My Little Princess

I just couldn't resist sharing pictures of my Avery. When she was younger she was not into the princess stuff, but once her Pama (grandma) gave her The Little Mermaid video, she was hooked! Her Grana ended up getting her one of each of the princess dresses with the shoes and wands and I got her each of the crowns to match (you can tell from the pictures that she puts her own crowns on~lol). She practically lives in her princess dresses and has tons of regular clothes that have all of the Disney Princesses on them. She is also dressing up her baby sister, Sydney, already too (Sydney is only a year old so she will be hooked from the beginning). This is just a collection of pictures that I have been able to get; she wears a dress for about a week and then the next week she will be another princess which she insists on being called that princess' name also. Wee Squeek ~ Fun Shoes for Kids ~ Giveaway!

A little over a year after the birth of my first daughter, Avery, while managing an apartment community, a family came in to view our apartments with one of my leasing consultants. While working on financial reports, I kept hearing this squeaking noise and could not for the life of me figure out what it was and where it was coming from. So after a couple more minutes, curiosity got the best of me so I went on the hunt for the squeaky little noise. After walking through my office and foyer, I entered our resident cybercafe and low and behold, there was this little girl about 18 months old walking around with her family and my coworker; just squeaking away with every tiny little step. I asked her parents where they found her shoes since I had a toddler at home and they stated that they had bought them in India; however, they did not know where I could find them here in the states. The mother had also explained to me that they help to teach children how to walk because the child can hear the squeaking noise every time they step down with each foot which encourages their development. So when I got back to my office, I of course started searching online for these wonderful adorable little shoes. I was never able to find the shoes online for sale here in the states; they were all in other countries. So when I was a contacted by the representative, Cara, with Wee Squeak, I was delighted because I now have a second daughter, Sydney, who is 12 1/2 months old and learning to walk.

BANGKOK - A Thai firefighter dressed as Spider-Man to rescue an autistic boy who climbed onto a third-floor balcony and dangled his legs over the side because he was nervous on his first day of school.

Firefighter Somchai Yoosabai was called in after the 11-year-old boy's teachers and mother failed to coax him off the ledge on Monday, he said in a telephone interview Wednesday.

"He was nervous about the first day at school, and he was asking for his mother," Somchai said. "He cried and refused to let any of us get close to him."

Overhearing a conversation between the boy's mother and his teachers about his love for comics and superheroes, Somchai rushed back to the fire station to change into a Spider-Man costume before swinging into action.

"I told him Spider-Man is here to save you. No monster will hurt you now," Somchai said. "Then I told him to walk slowly toward me. I was very nervous that he might have slipped if he got too excited and ran."

Somchai, who keeps costume of Spider-Man and a Japanese superhero Ultraman to liven up fire drills at schools, said the teary-eyed boy broke into a smile and started walking into his arms.

The fictional hero was created by comic-writer Stan Lee in the early 1960s. The character regained its popularity in recent years thanks to the trilogy of Hollywood films starring Tobey McGuire and Kirsten Dunst.

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cupcakes Recipe

What can I say...I think the name of these cupcakes just makes your mouth water, right? They are so good and were triple tested by Good Housekeeping Research Institute. I found this recipe on MSN, however it is from Good Housekeeping. YUM!!!

Yields: 24 cupcakes

Total Time: 55 min

Prep Time: 30 min

Cook Time: 25 min

Oven Temp: 350

Ingredients:

Filling and Cupcakes:

2/3 cup(s) confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup(s) creamy peanut butter
10 tablespoon(s) (1 1/4 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 2/3 cup(s) all-purpose flour
3/4 cup(s) unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 cup(s) sour cream
2 tablespoon(s) milk
1 1/2 cup(s) granulated sugar
2 large eggs

Butter Frosting:

3 cup(s) confectioners' sugar
6 tablespoon(s) butter (no substitutions), softened
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
3 tablespoon(s) (or more, as needed) milk

1. Prepare Filling: In bowl, with mixer on medium speed, mix confectioners' sugar, peanut butter, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla until blended. Shape mixture into 24 balls using heaping measuring teaspoons. (Balls will be sticky and don't need to be perfectly shaped.) Place balls on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet; set aside.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 24 standard muffin-pan cups with fluted paper liners.
3. Prepare Cupcakes: On waxed paper, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In 2-cup liquid measuring cup, mix sour cream, milk, and remaining vanilla; set aside. In large bowl, with mixer on low speed, beat granulated sugar and remaining 8 tablespoons butter just until blended. Increase speed to high; beat 1 minute. Reduce speed to low; add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat 1 to 2 minutes more or until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat just until ingredients are combined, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula.
4. Spoon 1 heaping measuring tablespoon batter into each muffin-pan cup. Drop 1 peanut butter ball in center of each cup and top with another heaping tablespoon batter. Bake cupcakes 25 to 28 minutes or until toothpick inserted in cupcake comes out clean. Immediately remove cupcakes from pans and cool completely on wire rack.
5. When cupcakes are cool, prepare Butter Frosting: In large bowl, with mixer on medium-low speed, beat confectioners' sugar, butter, vanilla, and 3 tablespoons milk until smooth and blended. Beat in additional milk as needed for easy spreading consistency. Increase speed to medium-high; beat until light and fluffy, scraping bowl often with rubber spatula. Makes 1 1/2 cups frosting. Spread frosting on cupcakes.
Nutritional information is based on one cupcake. (I post the nutritional information reluctantly and because they were with the recipe...don't let the numbers scare you away from making them!! Just save them for special treats or occasions. Because yes, as stated above, these are numbers for 1 cupcake.)

If anyone knows of the movies that Kirk Cameron has done over the years, you are probably aware of his latest one, Fireproof. But if you don't know about his movies, this one would be a great one to watch first! It shows you how to guarantee the love and longevity of your marriage by devoting your life to God and being true to each other. It has a great line in the movie "You never leave your partner in a fire." It means that when we get married the whole part of "For better or worse"...that includes the WORSE part just as much as the better. I just watched it tonight and I am going to buy it and I am going to buy the Love Dare Book and Fireproof Novel. Just click the title link and it will take you to the Fireproof your marriage website. Milkies~New Product for Breast Feeding Moms

I have found a great product for breastfeeding moms or even the moms that are pumping and then bottle feeding (because at Me and Mommy Boutique we support moms in whatever choice they make for their babies nourishment). This product just happens to involve moms that use their own breast milk. Now my children are 2yrs old and 10mths old so these are not something that I can go and buy and try out for your guys to review them first; therefore, if you do buy them please let me know how they work so I can do an updated post on them.

They are called Milkies. Slim and portable, no one will even know you are wearing it. Best of all — it collects your leaking breast milk when you nurse, allowing you to store extra breast milk effortlessly. When you have breast milk available all the time, you will never resort to formula.

Is It Safe to Have a Cat In a Household With a Baby

It is pretty understandable how families could be worried; so read on to here if it is safe or not and be your own judge. My advise is just be smart about your pets whether they are cats or dogs....

The rumor that Dr. Brazelton helped repopularize goes like this: Families with infants should get rid of their cats because the animals will harm the baby by sucking its breath or lying on it and smothering it.

But experts say this tale probably began because cats, attracted to soft, warm bedding, probably curled up near babies who died from other causes. Because they were found near the babies, the cats got the blame for the death.

I tell my clients that millions of women for thousands of years have had healthy babies and lived with cats,” says feline veterinary specialist Elaine Wexler-Mitchell of Orange, Calif. “I think the only danger of a cat around a baby is that cats like to snuggle next to warm things in small areas, and a cat will not know if this position is dangerous for the baby.”

She advises keeping cats out of the room where the baby sleeps. If the cat is used to spending time in that room, start restricting its access at least a month before delivery, and don’t allow it to nap in the bassinet.

“Most cats stay away from babies, especially when the baby first comes home,” Wexler-Mitchell says. “They are scared of the crying and the changes in the home environment."

She recommends letting interaction between cat and baby occur naturally, under supervision. Never leave babies unattended in the presence of cats or dogs, and give pets plenty of attention away from the baby so they don’t feel abandoned.

How to solve a toddler temper tantrum

So I came across this article written by Meredith F. Small and would like everyone's opinion. I actually have the video "The Happiest Toddler On The Block" but haven't watched it yet. This article reverences the book that goes with the video. So read the article and tell me if you think this is good advice....

You're in a store, little kid in hand, and then suddenly she tries to pull away. You bend down and whisper quietly in her ear, "Stay with Mommy, honey," knowing full well that this reasonable request is a foolish attempt to dampen the temper tantrum that is rising like a tsunami inside your kid. With a pounding heart, you scoop her up and run from the store before someone shouts, "Bad parent. Dreadful child. Get out!" No one knows why 2-year-olds have temper tantrums, but most of them do. It starts with mild anger over something simple but then quickly escalates into full blown fury dramatized by screaming, fist pounding, foot-stomping, and screaming. The child also descends psychologically into a place where they can't be reached by words or physical comfort, and parents stand by helpless and confused. Clearly, the child is distressed, but to the parent, the distress seems way out of proportion to the situation. And it is physically stressful for the child, which suggests that there must be some evolutionary reason why temper tantrums are so universal for little kids. Pediatrician Harvey Karp, author of "The Happiest Toddler on the Block," and an expert in getting babies and toddlers to quiet down, claims that tantrums are an expected product of human development. He sees our little darlings as less-evolved savages driven by instinct and emotion, not thoughtful reasoning, and he suggests it's our job as parents to civilize them into Homo sapiens. And so, Dr. Karp suggests, in the midst of a tantrum a parent should reach way back to our ancient ancestors and think like a Neanderthal and become one with the child and figure out how to stop the screaming. His method is to speak in short phrases that reflect the primitive emotions of the child ("You are angry") rather than addressing the adult modern Homo sapiens situation of the moment ("Please stop. Big girls don't scream in stores.") Apparently, nothing infuriates these little Neanderthals more than Homo sapiens logic. They just want to be heard and their emotions acknowledged and a tantrum is best controlled by the simple, "I hear you. I feel you." Of course, Dr. Karp maligns Neanderthals by suggesting there were instinctual creatures swayed by emotions rather than thought. Neanderthals didn’t have language, but they had bigger brains than modern humans and could probably do logic problems with the best of us. His advice is better couched in the notion that Homo sapiens, and presumably our ancestors, were designed to feel very deeply, and little kids simply want their emotions acknowledged, just like adults. In fact, adults spend millions of dollars each year to talk to counselors and get their feelings heard. And relationships work best when people are able to see and hear each other's pain, misery, happiness and joy. And so parents need not read the history of human evolution to know how to deal with their unruly kids. All we have to do, even in the middle of the most embarrassing public tantrum, is to reach inside and feel that same frustration and anger with the world, and then bend down and say, as Dr Karp would, "I know just how you feel." Jennifer's Chili Recipe

Here is a great chili recipe from my friend Jennifer.

Ingredients:

2 cans pinto beans
2 cans kidney beans
1 lb chili meat or turkey
2 cans diced tomatoes
1 can of whole kernel corn
1 pkg of McCormick's chili seasoning
1 Chopped onion (to taste)

Brown the meat and then put all ingredients together and let it cook in the crock pot for at least an hour before serving. Garnish with your favorite toppings.

Eggs in a Cup

Here is a great recipe I saw on GMA from Emeril Lagasse. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon unsalted butter

4 thin slices Virginia ham, about ½ ounce each<

8 large eggs

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

8 tablespoons heavy cream

8 tablespoons grated Swiss cheese

2 teaspoons chopped parsley

1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives

Cooking Directions

Butter four 6-ounce crème brulee ramekins with the butter and lay one slice of ham in each ramekin so that it sits flat on the bottom (it's OK if it comes up the sides.)

Crack two eggs into two separate small cups and pour simultaneously into one of the ramekins so that the eggs sit side-by-side on top of the ham slice. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

Repeat with remaining eggs.

Place the 4 filled ramekins onto a baking sheet and transfer to the oven.

Bake until eggs are just beginning to set up and become opaque, 9 to 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and drizzle each ramekin with 2 tablespoons of the heavy cream and then sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the cheese over the top of each.

Sprinkle the parsley and chives over the ramekins and then return to the oven.

Cook until eggs are just set up but yolks are still runny, 10 to 12 minutes, or to desired degree of doneness. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.

Cute and Easy Pencil Holder

Here is a way to entertain your little one...for at least an hour. Just take a soup/vegetable can and paint the whole can with a background color. Let your kids paint it with whatever colors they want and let them loose with the stickers, decorations, pompoms, etc. Just make sure that if the can has a sharp edge that you cover it with a thick ribbon (I did not have a thick enough ribbon for the pencil holder we did). I think the best thing to use for the ribbon is hot glue, so supervise your little ones during this project. And the best advise is to have FUN!

The love for our kids

I have always known that I love my kids...however; I had a "nightmare" the other night and I do mean a NIGHTMARE! I dreamt that someone had done harm to my youngest daughter who is 10mths old. I don't know how anyone else dreams; but when I dream it is always very real to me at the time the dream is going on. So needless to say when I woke up it took me a minute to dry my tears and realize that it was just a dream and I was still in my cozy house sleeping next to my loving husband and my two very special little girls were sound asleep in their beds just as happy and safe as could be. Man I LOVE my kiddos!

Mommy blessings

I want to give my blessings to all of the mommies that have more than two children. I myself have two little girls; one is 3yrs old and the other is 10mths old. I am currently visiting my sister-in-law and her family. She has two children of her own who are 3 1/2 yrs old and 17mths old. I watched them for a short time yesterday on my own. The babies napped most of the time and the "big" kids ate lunch and played. While I had a fairly easy time with all 4 kids, I have learned that anyone with more than 1 child has got to receive a reward of some kind for our braveness to tread the "children waters." I say that because having two of my own I know that it is very difficult a times but with I remember with 1 it was easy; not to knock the parents with just 1 but if you decide to have more than 1 then you will know then what I am describing. I do not know how people with lots of kids keep their sanity with all of the yelling, screaming, crying and fighting; the "No that's my toy," "Mommy she is being mean," etc., etc. But I look at my kiddos and know that it is all worth it when they give me that great big "Laissle" hug as we call it in our family and I am told "Mommy I love you!" or when my 10mth old looks at me and gives me that great big toothless grin and laughs. It makes all of the destruction of toys and crying and runny noses that much more tolerable. Which leads me to my next point of savoring every moment, even the crazy ones! I have now learned with my 2nd now here that life is going by very fast and you have to relish in every moment and make each minute count. So...that is my rant for the day. I hope every mommy and daddy out there, whether you have 1 or 100 kiddos, remembers to hug and kiss your kids everyday and tell them that you love them and the important thing is to mean it and show them everyday that you also love yourself and your spouse or partner.
